Chris Colfer is turning up the heat with a new novel. The actor best known for Glee has written his share of books since the show ended, but by all accounts, his upcoming one will be a lot racier.
At a viewing party for the Academy Awards, Chris said this book would be “really smutty” and “very gay.” He adds that this novel is inspired by something which happened to him years ago. It’s a massive step up from the genre that many readers may know him for.
Chris Colfer is writing his first adult fiction book
The new book from Chris Colfer is unlikely to be kid-friendly. In an interview, Out Chris calls his upcoming book project “very spooky.” He adds that “I do use the sex as a metaphor, so hopefully people will pick up on that.” The Golden Globe-winning actor has previously released children’s novels.
Over his career, the openly gay actor has written more than 20 books in the past 15 years. His first, The Wishing Spell, came out in 2012. It is the first in a series of his Land of Stories novels. It tells the story of two siblings who leave their world behind to enter a foreign land of magic and wonder.
The adaptation rights to The Land of Stories books spawned seven companion novels and a prequel trilogy. Those bestselling book rights were sold to Warner Bros. last year. In 2024, Chris wrote the first book in a new series, Roswell Johnson Saves the World! The newest film featuring Chris, The Potters, is currently in pre-production. His upcoming adult novel is scheduled for 2027.
In September, many of Chris’s colleagues on Glee reunited on a special episode of The Weakest Link, hosted by one of Chris’s co-stars, Jane Lynch. In that episode, we discovered that actor Chord Overstreet had previously posed nude for Playgirl.
