New audio recordings reveal how Tate Paul, the ex-husband of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul, reacted to her 2023 domestic violence arrest. Apparently, he wound up having some serious concerns about Taylor’s mother, Liann May.
We’ve all seen the disturbing video of Taylor’s fight with Dakota Mortensen, along with bodycam footage of cops arriving. Now, newly surfaced audio is shedding light on what happened afterward. Apparently, Tate had some concerns about Liann.
Tate Paul accuses TFP’s mom of “coaching” her after 2023 domestic violence incident
Taylor’s 2023 domestic violence arrest came back into the light after a disturbing video went public. It showed her fighting with Dakota while one of her kids cried in the background. At one point, one of her kids was hit by one of the flying chairs.
In the aftermath, Taylor’s parents picked up the kids while the police hauled her off to jail. Tate, who shares two kids with Taylor, later spoke to police and warned them about a potential “conflict of interest” with Liann, per an audio recording obtained by People.
“The grandmother is, you know, obviously there’s a conflict of interest with her because it’s her daughter that did this,” Tate said of May during a call with police on February 24, 2023.
He continued, “I’ve noticed she’s already tried gatekeeping — not gatekeeping — but, like, she’s coaching my daughter and saying specific things.”
During the call, Tate also confirmed that their daughter, Indy, sustained an injury during the altercation. If you’ve been following this case, you’ll recall the reports at the time noted that a child had a “goose egg” on their head. Tate echoed that same language in his recorded conversation with the police.
Tate also urged the officers to contact him directly with updates on the investigation, reiterating his concerns about Liann. He wanted to be in the loop instead of her.
Taylor ultimately entered a guilty plea for aggravated assault. She received three years of probation, but she’s now under investigation for two additional domestic violence allegations.
