Judge Rules in Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen’s Ongoing Legal Case

Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of domestic violence allegations.

There is a new ruling in the custody case involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. The former couple has been battling it out in court over their son, Ever. Taylor was involved in two separate domestic violence investigations, which also involved Dakota. In March, their legal woes paused filming for Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

In the end, the district attorney’s office decided not to press charges against Taylor. However, Dakota went to court and was awarded temporary custody of Ever, with Taylor having eight hours of supervised visitation weekly.

Meanwhile, the judge also extended Dakota and Taylor’s restraining orders against each other. During a virtual hearing on June 1, US Weekly reported that the judge issued an important ruling for Taylor. “I’m encouraged, and I think we’re moving in the right direction. From now until the next hearing, I’m going to recommend supervision be lifted,” the judge stated.

Plus, Taylor can now have her two-year-old son on one midweek day and on every other weekend. The mid-week day cannot be for an overnight visit. The judge added, “We want that day to be consistent so we are on a set schedule.”

The next hearing was scheduled for July 8. Ahead of that hearing, the judge ordered the parties to continue therapy and stay 100 feet away from each other. Taylor and Dakota were also ordered not to make any “disparaging comments” about the other party. “The main concern of the court is to prevent further acts of domestic violence, and we can have the hope that we see the parents being in the same place getting along, but now is not that time,” the judge explained.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu.
