Don’t mess with Joanna Lumley or her personal belongings. A group of people learned that the hard way this week. The British Dame from shows like Absolutely Fabulous spooked those trying to take one of her valuable items.
Reports indicate she heard an alarm, prompting her to go outside her home to see what all the fuss was about. She was said to be “confronted by motorbike thugs.”
Rather than call the cops, the 79-year-old decided taking matters into her own hands was best.
Masked attackers allegedly tried to steal the British icon’s car
Perhaps performing in a few crime-fighting movies and shows from years ago has served Joanna well. The woman from The New Avengers and The Trail of the Pink Panther showed a gang of motorcyclists that she has no fear of getting up in their grill.
The Sun reports that after her car alarm went off, Joanna, in her dressing gown, rushed out of her home to handle the situation. Reportedly, she challenged the group attempting to steal her car.
Evidently, she was intimidating enough to the thieves, who backed off. One of the alleged crooks was apparently unable to start her vehicle and appeared a little spooked when Joanna came out.
Neighbour and Times columnist Emma Duncan was privy to the situation and says she sprinted out to the scene. Emma says that she told the perpetrators to “f*ck off.” She adds that Joanna was yelling at the masked people as well, who eventually all fled.
Many are praising Joanna for her heroic act. There have been a slew of break-in vehicle attempts in the London area lately.
It is not the first time this year that someone famous has acted against others in London. In January, Barron Trump managed to help rescue a woman from an attack in the British capital.
Joanna drives a Smart Car. In her lengthy acting career, Joanna has been known to play some feisty characters, and apparently, that translates into her real life. She turns 80 on May 1.
