Bryan Cranston confesses mid-interview that he stole GMA merchandise from a previous segment. The 70-year-old star took the name literally when he revealed he had stolen a displayed item from their previous “Deals and Steals” segment.

Bryan Cranston reveals what he stole from GMA segment

Bryan Cranston disclosed he previously stole a displayed item from a popular GMA segment. Notably, he, Kaczmarek, and Muniz were promoting the four-episode revival miniseries, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, on Good Morning America when the 70-year-old actor made the revelation.

The Breaking Bad star revealed how he pitched the revival series to executive producer Linwood Boomer. Cranston stated, “For years people have been coming up [to me] and asking me, ‘What happened to Malcolm?…’ So I took that to Linwood Boomer, and he said absolutely not,” Cranston recalled. “Years went by, and then I asked him again, and he said, ‘I don’t think so.’ I said, ‘Oooh, there’s a fish line there. There’s a crack’ — it was definitive, and then it was not.”

Suddenly, he appeared distracted and dug his fingers into his jacket pocket. He fished out the displayed item—two electronic devices from the previous “Deals and Steals” segment. Host Robin Roberts remarked, “What is that!?” as Cranston looked confused, and everybody else laughed.

The Upside alum politely retorted, “I thought it was Deals or Steals.” To which host Roberts cried out, “You stole it.” Cranston put it aside, muttering under his breath, “I will grab that later.” Roberts then asked the actor to “never change,” as laughter ensued in the studio.

Previously, the 70-year-old actor revealed to The Guardian, “Comedy is essential right now. It’s not even important. It’s essential. Because it’s a break from the bombardment of non-stop information. People who have the news on 24 hours a day in their homes, I don’t think they realize the damage they’re doing. You might as well make a house full of asbestos or just have radiation constantly emitting through your house.”

Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair premieres on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on April 10 (via Entertainment Weekly).
