CNN reportedly apologized for Michael J. Fox post

CNN reportedly apologized for Michael J. Fox’s false death post. CNN accidentally sparked a death scare this week by implying that the 64-year-old star had passed away. On April 8, Fox assured his fans he was doing okay via his Threads account.

He took a lengthy jibe at CNN by writing, “How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death? Do you…A) switch to MSNBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) pour scalding hot water on your lap, if it hurts you’re fine, (C) call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) relax, they do this once every year, (E) ask yourself wtf? I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”

Additionally, the Doc Hollywood star’s representative clarified that the 64-year-old actor is doing fine. The rep stated to TMZ, “Michael is doing great. He was at PaleyFest yesterday. He was on stage and was giving interviews.”

Shortly after the fiasco, a CNN spokesperson told TMZ, “The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family.”

Fox made an appearance at PaleyFest in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 7. He joined the wrap party for Shrinking season 3, in which he made a special appearance as Gary (via PEOPLE).

The Back to the Future star was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease in 1991, as mentioned in the CNN tribute video, too. Fox kept it private for seven years but came clean in 1998.
