Donald Trump and Michael Cohen are about to share a microphone again, years after their partnership collapsed spectacularly. The former president’s one-time fixer, who later became one of his fiercest critics, will interview Trump, marking an unexpected thaw between two men who once traded public blows and legal accusations.
Donald Trump to sit with Michael Cohen for an interview
The conversation will arrive in pieces rather than as one full broadcast. Michael Cohen confirmed that he interviewed Trump, with part of the discussion scheduled for his radio program Thursday night and more material set for Sunday on New York’s 77 WABC. Cohen also confirmed the reunion through a social media post.
Their history makes the sit-down particularly striking. Cohen once vowed he would “take a bullet” for Trump, but their alliance unraveled after Cohen faced federal charges in 2018. He admitted helping arrange secret transactions to women on Trump’s behalf and acknowledged violating his own “moral compass” while trying to remain loyal to his former boss (via The Daily Beast).
Trump responded publicly at the time by warning people against hiring Cohen. The former lawyer later served a three-year sentence and completed it in November 2021. Their legal battles continued beyond the criminal case, including a lawsuit over legal fees that eventually resulted in a 2023 settlement.
Cohen then became a major witness in Trump’s New York hush money prosecution involving Stormy Daniels. Trump was convicted in that case in 2024, but his return to the White House after winning the presidential election kept him from serving prison time.
However, Cohen now says a common sense of betrayal helped reopen the door. Speaking on 77 WABC, he explained, “We rekindled our relationship because of a shared experience of betrayal.” He also argued that political allies on the left eventually turned against him after he challenged parts of their narrative surrounding Trump.
Cohen said he eventually reached out directly to Trump, thanking him and expressing hope that their “long, exhausting feud” could finally end. The former attorney has also disputed claims about Trump’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
