Regardless of whether he is in the wrong, Donald Trump has historically not been one to back down. But, following widespread backlash – particularly from the MAGA community – he has deleted a controversial post made on Truth Social just hours ago.
President Trump went a step too far for many fans
To recap, on Sunday evening, Trump took to Truth Social and shared a seemingly AI-generated image of himself as a messiah. In the picture, the President – dressed as a biblical figure – had orbs of golden light coming from his hands, which he used to heal a sick man in a hospital bed. Pretty Jesus-coded, right?
Well, the internet certainly thought so … and they weren’t happy. Many of Trump’s usual MAGA fans took to social media to call him out for the move, which they branded insensitive and blasphemous.
“This is gross blasphemy. Faith is not a prop,” said conservative political activist @BrilynHollyhand on X. “You don’t need to portray yourself as a savior when your record should speak for itself.”
“Why? Seriously, I cannot understand why he’d post this,” questioned conservative influencer Riley Gaines. “Is he looking for a response? Does he actually think this?”
Former Trump ally, Marjorie Taylor Greene, also weighed in on the Jesus scandal. “It’s more than blasphemy,” she said via her @mtgreenee account on X. “It’s an Antichrist spirit.”
So far, there has been no comment from Trump or the White House about the image … or its removal from Truth Social. Nonetheless, all of this comes at a challenging time for the President. Recent polls have shown growing disapproval for Trump and a sharp decrease in his popularity due to the war in Iran.
