Nicholas Galitzine talks about his body prep for He-Man look in Master of the Universe
During a recent conversation, the 31-year-old actor discussed his fitness routine to essay He-Man. He trained under the watchful eye of celebrity personal trainer David Kingsbury. Notably, Kingsbury has trained the likes of Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth, and Ryan Reynolds.
Nicholas Galitzine shared with Entertainment Weekly, “Truthfully, I feel like I learned a lot about myself and how far I was willing to push myself and really suffering for it. And it took a really, really long time. It’s really not for the faint of heart. This is something that you need to do full-time for six months minimum, but I’m really happy.”
Notably, Prince Adam, AKA He-Man, is touted to be the “most powerful man in the universe.” The Idea of You star further revealed, “It’s a peculiar thing, being in a miniskirt and harness while everyone’s fully dressed in puffer jackets and whatnot. Obviously, it’s such a personal journey for you, and you see your body every day.”
Moreover, Nicholas Galitzine explained how people who worked with him for a long time were subconsciously privy to his He-Man body transformation as well. He stated, “And really it’s not till people who’ve seen you six months prior then see you there, in Eternia, (Skeletor’s home) Snake Mountain, Subternia, wherever it may be, you gain validation off of other people’s reactions to it.”
Masters of the Universe producer Jason Blumenthal, too, lavished praise upon the Red, White, and Royal Blue actor’s extraordinary efforts in transforming his body. He stated, “I don’t know anyone that could’ve done it the way Nick did it, because not only did he fully commit, his body transformation was 100-percent real. There are no tricks, there are no pills, there are no…nothing. I sat there with him for months. He did it old school.”
Director Travis Knight reiterated the same, recalling how Nicholas Galitzine was training on set even during the prep phase. “And when I saw him again, I was like, holy s–t. I couldn’t believe how much he had changed. He had put on so much muscle in such a short period of time. Sometimes I’ll look at photos back when I first met him, and it looks like a totally different dude.”
Meanwhile, Masters of the Universe will arrive in cinemas on June 5, 2026.
