Donald Trump Is ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’ Amid Ceasefire Violations

Donald Trump issued a threat to Iran over the weekend. The US president warned of severe military retaliation for what he described as violations of the ongoing ceasefire agreement between the two nations. The escalation in rhetoric comes as diplomatic efforts continue ahead of the truce’s scheduled expiration on Wednesday.

Donald Trump sends strong-worded message to Iran

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to address the situation. He declared, “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!” and accused Tehran of breaking the terms of the fragile ceasefire. Trump stated that Iran had “decided to fire bullets yesterday.” He termed it a “total violation of our ceasefire agreement.”

The president outlined the potential consequences if Iran refuses to finalize a broader peace agreement. “We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran,” Trump wrote.

The accusations follow reports from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) Centre regarding instability near the Strait of Hormuz. On Saturday, a cargo ship was struck by an “unknown projectile,” which damaged containers. Additionally, the UKMTO reported that a tanker northeast of Oman was approached by gunboats. They were operated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who subsequently fired on the vessel. Trump also claimed Iran had targeted both a French ship and a U.K. vessel, though no injuries were reported.

Now, ahead of the ceasefire deadline, Donald Trump announced Sunday that U.S. negotiators will travel to Pakistan on Monday for another round of discussions with Iran. Vice President JD Vance, who led the first round of talks last weekend, reportedly will head the delegation alongside U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Iran has not formally confirmed the talks. But the country’s chief negotiator, Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf, shared, “The President of the United States made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false.” For now, the two nations remain locked in a standoff involving competing blockades of the Strait of Hormuz.
