Oscar Isaac discussed his viral Star Wars meme in a recent interview. He revealed that his iconic line, “Somehow, Palpatine returned,” was a result of last-minute reshoots for the movie and was added in the end.
In a chat with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused podcast, the interviewer joked that his iconic line from Star Wars follows him everywhere.
To which Isaac replied, “Those were reshoots. We had to do reshoots. Because, when I look at it, I’m like, ‘Oh the wig’s pretty good.’ I had cut my hair already. Yeah man, those are like those surgical strikes, when you come in…” “Trying to make sense of it?” Horowitz attempted to fill in.
“They are scrambling, trying to get everything going…,” the 47-year-old actor continued. “That was obviously like a new addition, right at the end. There was a lot of movement and flux throughout that whole thing. But, had you asked me if at that moment that it was going to be one, I wouldn’t have known.”
Horowitz pointed out that he now has iconic and memorable memes to his credit, thanks to both Star Wars and Ex Machina. To this, Isaac replied with a chuckle, “Hey man, I committed to the exasperation that’s for sure.”
