D4vd Murder Trial Update: ‘40 Terabytes’ of Evidence Involved

There could be overwhelming evidence against D4vd. That’s at least the word coming from the prosecution team against him. The rapper on trial for first-degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez could be fighting for his life in court.

His attorney says they’ve been given almost no discovery, including no autopsy or copy of the complaint. The prosecution said in court, “There’s approximately 40 terabytes of discovery in this case.” That is a massive amount of data storage. That equates to around 40,000 gigabytes. In fact, that is well beyond the capacity of any iPhone can handle.

The singer has pleaded not guilty to the charge

The odds appear stacked against him, but D4vd intends to fight this. Despite the alleged staggering evidence, the singer has pleaded not guilty to the charges. In addition to his first-degree murder charge, he’s facing charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and mutilating a body. He was transferred to a new prison this week.

D4vd was said to be hiding out at a rental property in Los Angeles for months while investigators looked into Celeste’s suspicious death. Her dismembered and decomposing body parts were found in a Tesla, which was registered to the rapper. He was apprehended at his hideout property earlier this month.

One of his lawyers, Blair Berk, said in court that she believed in his innocence, adding that “we would ask the people respectfully to produce discovery at the earliest opportunity.” The prosecution appeared reluctant to do so, responding that the council must file a motion before it’s considered.

Celeste reportedly had a romantic relationship with D4vd, with her mother previously saying she knew that she was dating someone named David. That’s D4vd’s birth name: David Anthony Burke. The suggestion is that Celeste was going to spill the beans about her and D4vd’s relationship, which allegedly spooked the rapper. His family says they’re behind him in this case, while Celeste’s family declined to comment.
