Tyla Becomes Margot Robbie in McQueen Bustier Dress With Bold Cutouts

Music sensation Tyla has always served fashion fabulousness with a side of fashion perfection, leaving her fans impressed by all of her looks. The artist recently stepped straight into high-fashion nostalgia, and she is undoubtedly doing it with utmost ease.

For her latest i-D Magazine beauty shoot, the “Chanel” singer wore an ivory Alexander McQueen dress. It featured a sharply structured bustier, asymmetric slashes, and bold cutouts that instantly caught attention. In fact, Tyla’s new photo was reminiscent of one of Margot Robbie’s earlier ensembles.

The “Water” hitmaker‘s latest look actually felt strikingly familiar and for good reason. The same design was previously worn by none other than Margot Robbie at the Vogue Forces of Fashion event back in 2023, where it quickly became one of her most talked-about fashion moments. Now, with Tyla reinterpreting it through a more editorial, high-gloss lens, the piece got a rather fresh, fabulous, and almost futuristic upgrade.

Further, what made Tyla’s dress stand out was, of course, its controlled chaos. The corseted bodice brought structure, while the raw, slashed detailing and uneven hemline added a sense of deliberate disruption. The stylish look clearly read as avant-garde tailoring. On Tyla, it felt younger, sharper, and a little more experimental, especially within the stylized world of a magazine shoot. The look also helped her show off her curves.

Although the fashion clash actually made a comparison to Margot Robbie, undoubtedly inevitable, but Tyla didn’t really get overshadowed by it. Instead, she leaned into it and made the look her own. Where Margot’s version felt polished and event-ready, Tyla’s take is moodier, edgier, and more fashion-forward. This proved just how versatile a single design can be, especially when placed in different contexts.
