After her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle allegedly made a demand that is making the rounds again. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor in 2019, after Queen Elizabeth II gifted the home to them following their wedding in the year 2018.
The Grade II-listed property, set within Windsor Great Park and close to local sports grounds, underwent $3.3 million in renovations before the couple moved in, but out of everything, Markle reportedly objected to parked cars nearby.
Meghan Markle demanded to restrict parked cars near first home with Prince Harry, per insiders
OK! Magazine exclusively highlighted Meghan Markle’s demand after her marriage to Prince Harry. In his book “Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History,” royal author Hugo Vickers claims that Markle did not want to have cars parked on the adjacent sports ground because she could see them from the cottage.
An insider told the outlet that Markle desired “a calm, controlled environment around the home at all costs.” However, they added, “The presence of parked cars in direct view was something she found intrusive,” and so, she wanted to address it at the time. Hence, the insider claimed that Markle was not “making unreasonable demands.” Instead, the “demand” was “about ensuring a sense of privacy and visual tranquility,” away from the Sussexes’ life in the public eye.
Even so, OK! noted that some believed that the reported request was understandable for a couple under constant scrutiny, but others saw it as another example of differences between Markle’s expectations and royal routines.
A source described the situation, suggesting, “At the time, there was already a sense that the Sussexes were trying to carve out their own way of doing things, separate from established royal norms,” which ultimately “fed into a broader narrative that the couple wanted more control over their environment and day-to-day life than the traditional setup necessarily allowed.” Nevertheless, as the source said, “many saw it as a classic diva demand” from Meghan Markle right after her marriage to Prince Harry.
