Donald Trump shares photo of suspect on Truth Social
Donald Trump has shared a video of the suspect attempting to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The clip, shared on Truth Social, shows the suspect slipping past security as security personnel quickly draw their weapons. The gunman fired gunshots near the main security screening area during the event.
Trump also posted a photo of a team of Secret Service agents arresting the suspect outside the banquet hall. He is seen lying face down on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. The President, Melania Trump, and all other guests have been unharmed during the ordeal. However, one Secret Service officer sustained injuries.
“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He added, “The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we ‘LET THE SHOW GO ON, ‘ but will be entirely guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different from planned, and we’ll plain have to do it again.”
Trump penned another Truth Social post where he stated, “Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately. I will be giving a press conference in 30 minutes from the White House Press Briefing Room.” The President added, “The First Lady, plus the Vice President, and all Cabinet members, are in perfect condition. We will be speaking to you in half an hour. I have spoken with all the representatives in charge of the event, and we will be rescheduling within 30 days.”
Speaking in a press briefing shortly after the incident, Trump called the suspect “a sick person, a very sick person,” saying that he “charged a security checkpoint armed with multiple weapons.” The President added that “some very brave members of Secret Service,” took down the suspect. Law enforcement officials later identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen.
