Donald Trump may be going through an internal shakeup. That’s the belief after Karoline Leavitt’s confession to reporters last week. The 28-year-old was recently asked why President Trump didn’t do more to convince Virginia voters to reject a redistricting measure. Karoline responded by saying she’s “not part of the president’s political team anymore.”
That answer has led to suggestions that some form of internal action was taken against her. Redistricting in Virginia could give Democrats more seats.
The White House Press Secretary sparked rumors she was demoted or fired
Trump’s decisions and comments may no longer be Karoline’s concerns. While chatting with members of the press, she said “I do sit here at the White House as a government employee.” She had served as White House Press Secretary since 2025. Her comments, though, suggest the President may have moved her somewhere else.
Many wonder just how satisfied the POTUS was with Karoline’s efforts as Press Secretary. Trump said a few weeks ago that she was doing a “terrible job,” though it sounded like he was joking. Given Karoline’s revelation, though, perhaps he was foreshadowing a future decision.
Another theory being floated around is that the 28-year-old is distancing herself from Trump. There are some who believe she may turn her back on him as he faces intense scrutiny over his social media posts and the Iran crisis. When Trump lost the 2020 election, Karoline left to serve as communications director for New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.
The other idea is that, when the POTUS earned a second term in the White House, her official designation was just that of a Press Secretary. Since the election is long over, it’s believed her official title with his 2024 Presidential campaign as Press Secretary may have just changed.
