Lara Trump talks about Donald Trump after WHCD shooting incident
In a recent interview with Chris Cuomo on his SiriusXM radio show “Cuomo Mornings,” Lara Trump shared that her father-in-law, Donald Trump, remains concerned about assassination threats during public appearances. The statement comes just a couple of days after the recent shooting incident at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night.
Shortly after praising Trump’s speech following the ordeal, Cuomo noted how the crisis blurred the differences between Democrats and Republicans, briefly uniting the parties. Lara agreed, saying, “We have to remember we’re human beings, Chris. I think that’s the bottom line there.”
Lara Trump, who is married to the President’s third child, Eric Trump, further stated. “We are all at the end of the day, more alike than we are different. We all generally want the same things.” She added, “We want safety and security. We want a better life for our kids than we had. We want, you know, the next generation to succeed.”
Referring to previous assassination attempts on the POTUS, Lara continued, “At the end of the day, we’re all human beings. Donald Trump is a human being. He doesn’t deserve to have his life put in jeopardy multiple times, now.”
She added, “He doesn’t deserve to think every time he goes somewhere — and don’t kid yourself, he absolutely does — ‘Is this going to be the time where someone tries to take me out again?’ And, like I said, I don’t know how many chances one person actually gets, and that is a really, really scary thought.”
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was thrown into chaos when an assailant fired gunshots near the event’s screening area at the Washington Hilton. Law enforcement later identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen. Authorities arrested the shooter outside the banquet hall, an image of which Trump later shared in a Truth Social Post.
