King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived in the US for a four-day tour. It will see them visit New York, Washington DC, and Virginia, before heading off to Bermuda. But, while the pair are all smiles in their press pictures, one royal isn’t on board with their visit: Prince William.
Sources say Prince William was against this trip to the US

According to a Mirror US insider, the Prince of Wales was against Charles and Camilla’s state visit to America. As for why that is? It’s all to do with the monarch’s health.
Charles has been receiving medical treatment since announcing his cancer diagnosis in 2024. Earlier this year, he confirmed his treatment was being scaled back, following a favorable response. But William has concerns that his dad’s health is still too precarious to undertake such a demanding trip.
“King Charles and Queen Camilla have caused allegedly a row within the Royal Family after accepting a visit to America as part of the 250th centenary celebrations,” said Ian Pelham Turner.
“Sources close to the Royal family have allegedly stated that Prince William was against the couple going to the celebrations. He felt that his father’s health was still not the best,” the royal broadcaster went on. “But apparently [William] was overruled by Queen Camilla.”
Charles and Camilla’s trip to the States marks the first time a British monarch has visited since 2007. Since it was announced, many – including Donald Trump – have positioned the trip as a way to mend relations between the two countries.
“The visit has the potential to smooth out the relationship between Trump and the UK, which has had a rough ride in recent times,” another source told Mirror US. “The prestige associated with the king visiting him will possibly soften Trump’s hardening attitude.”
