King Charles and Queen Camilla Wrap up US Trip and Share Deeply Personal Message to America

Upon leaving the U.S., King Charles and Queen Camilla gave a departing message on social media. Their four-day trip began on Monday, April 27, and they left on Thursday, April 30.

During their visit, Charles and Camilla toured Washington, D.C., New York City, and Virginia. The visit was due to the advice of the British government as well as an invite from Donald Trump to commemorate America’s 250-years anniversary of independence.

The King and Camilla also offered a look at their new portrait

A cozy photo of the King and Queen sharing a smile was taken by Chris Jackson and posted on Instagram. The caption said, “?? Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the kind support you gave us throughout our first visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your special anniversary year. We leave a piece of our [heart] behind and take a little of yours back home with us. Until the next time… God Bless America.”

Chris took the photo in the Jackson Place Sitting Room of Blair House in Washington, D.C., before a mural of Washington landmarks. His Instagram post noted that one of the perks of his job as royal photographer is watching “history unfold in real-time.”

He revealed that this State Visit was different. Chris “listened to speeches and captured moments that will form the fabric of United Kingdom/USA relations for decades to come. Wrapping up such a historic trip with the extraordinary privilege of capturing this moment in time at Blair House with King Charles and Queen Camilla feels very special.”

The photo includes the royals’ regnal signatures. They signed Rex and Regina, which are Latin for King and Queen.

Also in the post were photos of New York City’s Empire State Building and JP Morgan Chase Tower. Both were lit up in the red, white and blue colors of the U.K. flag, with the Statue of Liberty in between.
