Jeff Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sánchez, garnered critical comments from internet users over her Met Gala fashion choice. For those unversed, Sánchez and her husband, Bezos, served as honorary co-chairs and were also the primary donors funding the event. The philanthropist wore a stunning navy blue gown to fashion’s biggest night; however, the internet is not too impressed.
Lauren Sanchez Bezos criticized for her Met Gala dress
Jeff Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sánchez, faces backlash for her Met Gala fashion choice. The former journalist modeled a navy Schiaparelli gown at the annual fashion event. The dress boasted a deep neckline with gold-pearl straps and was cinched at her waist perfectly.
As per Vogue, the figure-hugging dress is a reference to “Madame X” by John Singer Sargent, a famous portrait in the museum’s collection. Sánchez revealed to Vogue that she was particularly impressed by the inspiring story behind the gorgeous outfit.
The 56-year-old said, “When you stand in front of it now, you see a beautiful woman. For me, the image represents how fashion and cultural standards can shift over time. Today, a strap is a strap, but back when Madame X was painted by Sargent, a strap was a scandal.”
The philanthropist accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. She wore pearl drop earrings and an exquisite diamond ring. Sánchez opted for a simple hairstyle, with her hair falling in gentle waves cascading down her shoulders. The former journalist sported soft glam makeup with defined lashes and nude lipstick. She also flaunted nude manicured nails (via PEOPLE).
However, the internet is not exactly floored by Sánchez’s navy blue gown. One fan commented, “That woman needs to get a life. Nobody is interested in a mariachi gown.” A second fan wrote, “Stupid. Women wanting to be something special. You can’t get ‘it’ from a dress. Embarrassing.” A third fan remarked, “She could’ve at least attempted to be on theme.”
A fourth fan explained, “The dress is stunning, but it wearing her. She doesn’t pop, and it’s due to the tone of it. She needed more lip colour to make this focus on her.”
