Donald Trump Jr. faces backlash for his recent post
Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., recently found himself on the receiving end of backlash after his “sleepover” comment about the White House.
He posted a clip on X (formerly Twitter) of himself exiting Marine One, greeted by his father, President Donald Trump, at the White House. The businessman could be seen carrying his luggage as the duo then walked towards the residence.
In the caption, Trump Jr. referred to the White House as his father’s home and wrote, “Sleepover at dad’s house. It never isn’t surreal to be able to witness this incredible slice of Americana. Just an absolute honor.” This caption sparked a wave of criticism on the platform directed at how the White House was referred to.
One user commented, “This isn’t your dad’s house. It belongs to the American people.” A third user went on to comment, “Not his house, you insufferable slimeball. It’s ours.” Another user echoed this and noted, “It’s not ‘your dad’s house.’ It’s The Peoples House. Your dad just has the honor of staying there.” Similarly, another user commented, “Actually, it’s the taxpayers’ house. Technically, your ‘sleepover’ is being hosted by about 330 million roommates who are collectively footing the bill for the electricity, the snacks, and the 24/7 security detail.” One user commented, “A 48-year-old man describing his stay at the seat of American executive power as a ‘sleepover at dad’s house’ is the most accidentally honest description of how this dynasty actually works.”
