When you reach the fame of Travis Kelce, you’re allowed to make a mistake now and again. While NFL fans may scrutinize the Kansas City Chiefs star for dropping a pass in a game, mistaking one’s identity is evidently ok.
Billy Eichner recently discussed an encounter he had involving the football star and his even more famous fiancée, Taylor Swift. The Funny or Die creator happened to see the couple at an Oscar party hosted by Madonna.
Billy was shocked when Travis first approached him
Meeting the likes of Travis and Taylor are moments few would ever forget. Apparently, though, Billy is much easier to forget. In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the comedian talked about an interaction he had with Travis years ago.
At the Vogue singer’s party, he recalls the Chiefs tight end coming up to him, preaching about how much he loved “Jimmy on the Street.” The problem is that the comedian’s show is called Billy on the Street. Just getting to speak with Travis and Billy was enough for him to let the error slide. “I’m not gonna be like, ‘Actually, it’s Billy.’ I was just happy about it,” he admitted.
Billy’s comments came after Andy asked him whether he cared about the upcoming nuptials reported between Travis and Taylor. Despite many people reportedly signing non-disclosure agreements, an insider leaked their wedding location on Monday.
At this year’s Oscar party at Madonna’s, Billy and Travis happened to meet again. The comedian says Travis came up to him to apologize for forgetting his name previously. Billy said he didn’t have to do so while adding that it’s made for a great story he can share with others. He says he invited the three-time Super Bowl champion to appear on an episode of Billy on the Street with him. Travis is gearing up for his 14th NFL season, while he’s expected to say I do to Taylor this summer.
