In the most recent episode of Real Housewives of Orange County, viewers watched the ladies dealing with the beginning of the pandemic, just before filming shut down. Apparently, Kelly Dodd was bored and spent the better part of 2020 dropping false, and dangerous, statements about the coronavirus pandemic.
In April 2020, Kelly lashed out on Instagram at someone who was critical of Kelly flying from New York back to California after visiting her fiancé, Rick Leventhal. “Do you know how many people died from the H1N1, the swine flu or SARS? It’s 25% get your facts straight you only hearing numbers not the reality! It’s God’s way of thinning the herd!” Kelly said. Sigh. She did apologize, but it was way too little and way too late.
There has been a ton of drama this season on Real Housewives of Potomac. The one moment that defined the season was the physical altercation between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard. Bravo cameras rolled during the incident. It was horrible, violent, and difficult to watch.
Candiace filed a case against Monique for second degree assault. After, Monique filed one against Candiace for the same. Luckily, a judge dismissed both cases.
Well, this is it. The very last episode before The Real Housewives of Orange County gets overtaken by the coronavirus. It was a good run. (But…was it, though?) All season, the looming threat of the global pandemic has tugged at the show’s periphery. You know it’s coming. But with a wave of the hand, it’s been constantly batted away and dismissed as the women have squabbled. They have more pressing things to fight over, after all. Like alcoholism, gag orders, tinctures and lice. Coronavirus has been something distant and irrelevant to joke about and toast to…and occasionally get mildly annoyed over. (But only when your precious natural products expo gets cancelled and you have nowhere to hawk your vitamin-infused water.)
But somebody call the CDC because there’s a life-threatening virus on the loose in the OC. However, we’re still treated to about 33 minutes of willful ignorance this week before the pandemic unleashes its full wrath on RHOC. Because these women would much rather ignore it for just a little while longer. They simply refuse to let a novel coronavirus harsh the vibe of their cast trip to Palm Springs. I mean, it would be a shame for a little thing like that to get in the way of gossiping about each other.
Teresa Giudice is one of Bravo’s most famous stars. Not because she is an engaging public figure, who gifts the people with words of wisdom during trying moments. It’s mostly because she flipped a table and has done more time behind bars than Lucky Luciano. A few Real Housewives of New Jersey diehard fans still feel some type of way about Teresa. She was never particularly good at owning up to her crimes or being accountable for her attitude.
But Teresa hasn’t exactly had it easy. She raised four daughters with little help. She dealt with marriage infidelities. Law violations and extended camp stays proved to be too much for Teresa’s 20 year relationship with Joe Giudice. Once it was decided divorce was going to knock her traditional values to the wayside, Tre waded into the dating pool. Now that Teresa is boo’d up with Louie Ruelas, she wants folks to know she’s in no rush – so don’t go ordering those monogrammed tea towels just yet.
Elizabeth Lyn Vargas is an interesting addition to Real Housewives of Orange County. I say “interesting” because I genuinely can’t tell if I like her or not. She has all of the things you might want in a housewife. She has a billionaire ex-husband. Elizabeth has an obsession with general materialism fancy cars. Then, there’s her odd outlook on sex, and a kind of tragic backstory. Plus, she makes Shannon Beador squirm.
Shannon can barely contain her insecurity around Elizabeth because she knows she has some real green money. Elizabeth was married to Bernt Bodal, (sounds like a Bond villain), owner of American Seafood Group, for five years. We also know Elizabeth couldn’t take being a billionaire’s wife and that he got some other woman pregnant. That sucks all around, especially because he told her he didn’t want kids. Now, Elizabeth is coming to collect.
Being in quarantine has afforded us time to get to know the walls of our homes very well. We can avoid complete and total boredom by binge watching our favorite television shows or reading a novel or two. Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval has spent his down time frosting the tips of his hair and being five minutes away from going full Backstreet Boys retro. But Tom has also had an opportunity to cuddle up with some new material.
Tom happened to read a couple chapters from Kristen Doute’s “self-empowerment” effort. Before being fired from Pump Rules and dropped by her publishing company, Kristen had been touting her new book. Wanting women to “own their crazy“, Kristen wrote about her (former) fellow cast members and old boyfriends. One of those boyfriends was Tom and according to Sandy, some of Kristen’s memories might have been courtesy of artistic license.
Currently, Candiace Dillard’s biggest adversary is Monique Samuels, followed close behind by Ashley Darby.
Last season on Real Housewives of Potomac, Candiace’s biggest foe was her own mother, Dorothy Dillard, even though she Wass paying Candiace’s bills. Dorothy tried to get Candiace to uninvited her half-brother from her wedding. She also slapped Candiace in the face with a big purse during a disagreement. Dorothy and Candiace had so much drama last season that Dorothy got her own segment on the reunion.
What can you say about Kelly Dodd? Kelly has proven to be both a lover and a fighter, in that she loves herself and fights with everyone else. Some people find the Real Housewives of Orange County star abrasive and difficult to get along with. Others find her an open chasm of misinformation and delusion that is willingly shared with a wide audience.
Kelly has weathered many storms and personal attacks. She wound up with fan support after fired Vicki Gunvalson accused her of doing blow and Tamra Judge lodged a sex train rumor with Kelly’s name attached. Unfortunately, that support now seems to be… withering. As a result of some sketchy social media posts, Kelly has fallen out of favor. There’s even a whole petition on the streets to get her fired from RHOC. Recently Kelly implied she isn’t welcome on certain Bravo shows, and that has folks wondering if Ms. Dodd is on her 14th minute.
