Joy Behar Rips SZA’s Met Gala Look: ‘Looks Like an Allergy’

Joy Behar took a not-so-subtle jibe at SZA’s Met Gala look, saying the dress “looks like an allergy.” The highly anticipated fashion event was held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 4, 2026. This year’s theme was “Costume Art,” with the dress code being “Fashion Is Art.” The “Snooze” hitmaker wore a golden gown featuring a corset bodice and an embroidered skirt. However, her look wasn’t met with enthusiasm by the TV host, who roasted it during a recent episode of “The View.”

Joy Behar criticized SZA’s 2026 Met Gala look during a recent episode of “The View.” The aired episode featured the co-hosts discussing their favorite looks from the event. Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the segment by asking if any particular outfit stood out. Alyssa Farah Griffin shared that she loved Sabrina Carpenter’s look and also praised Chase Infiniti’s outfit during her Met Gala debut.

Next, Sunny Hostin shared her thoughts, noting that she appreciated those who understood the assignment by staying true to the theme, “Fashion Is Art.” She specifically praised Angela Bassett and Amy Sherald for their looks. After Hostin’s comments, Behar pointed out that she felt some attendees didn’t quite understand the theme. She went on to critique Janelle Monae’s outfit, saying it “looked like a tree in The Wizard of Oz.”

Talking about SZA, the TV host said, “Zia, Seeza, how do you say her name?” Referring to the singer’s yellow floral gown, she added, “This one, I need a Claritin to just look at the dress. It looks like an allergy or something.”

At fashion’s biggest night, the “Good Days” singer wore a golden-yellow gown featuring a sleeveless design and a low neckline for a bold touch. The dress flowed into a voluminous skirt adorned with intricate floral detailing, which added a feminine element to the look. A butterfly-like cape at the back enhanced its charming appeal. Meanwhile, a floral headpiece lent an ethereal finish to the ensemble.
