Dwayne Johnson Reveals Why First Met Gala With Wife Feels Special

Dwayne Johnson made his first Met Gala outing with Lauren Hashian. It feels more like date night than duty. The Rock and his wife arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4 for fashion’s biggest night. A new red-carpet clip showed the “Jumanji” actor explaining why the event felt different from movie premieres. The hook was simple. No trophies, no box-office nerves, just clothes.

Dwayne Johnson on first Met Gala with wife Lauren Hashian: ‘It’s awesome’

As per the red carpet interview from Live From E!: Met Gala 2026, Johnson told Zuri Hall that major carpets usually carry pressure. He said, “This is our first Met,” while describing the difference. Usually, he said, carpets meant asking, “Our opening weekend, what’s it going to be?” However, this night was not about an award or competition. Johnson added, “It’s fashion’s biggest night. It’s our first, and it’s awesome.” That gave the couple’s debut a cleaner hook.

Meanwhile, the pair leaned fully into the dress-code drama. Johnson wore a black-and-white Thom Browne look with a tailcoat and skirt. He also showed off a Jacob & Co. watch during the carpet chat. Asked if he would keep it, he joked, “He (Jacob) doesn’t know that.” Then, he added, “But that answer is yes.” The timepiece, identified as the “Billionaire III”, was reportedly worth $3.3 million. Hashian matched the Thom Browne lane in a white halter gown with floral embellishments.

Also, Johnson used part of the interview to praise Lindsey Vonn, who arrived on crutches. He said he told her, “The reason why you’re on crutches” was “next level.” Then, after learning she climbed the steps without them, he added, “I love that woman.” The “Fast Five” actor married Hashian in 2019. So, their 2026 Met Gala moment played less like a promo and more like a polished couple victory lap.
