Barack Obama Urges Stephen Colbert to Run for President

Barack Obama encourages Stephen Colbert to hear people’s advice and run for the presidency. This conversation emerged when Colbert revealed that he was hunting for a new gig, following the conclusion of his Late Show on May 21. Last month, Colbert also revealed what his next career move would be, providing a glimpse of his new project. It’s also reported that he will also be writing the Lord of the Rings project alongside his son, Peter.

Barack Obama asks Stephen Colbert to run for President

During their pre-taped interview from the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, Colbert revealed that he’s looking for a new gig soon. He claimed that several people are also advising him to run for the presidential elections. Barack Obama encouraged him to consider the option before being told how stupid people could be to think he had run for president. Disagreeing with the thought, the former president added, “The bar has changed.”

Expressing his trust in Colbert’s presidency, Obama elaborated, “Let me put it this way, I think that you could perform significantly better than some folks that we’ve seen.” Upon being asked if he was endorsing Colbert publicly, the former president instantly disagreed.

During a previous episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host revealed that there are a lot of interesting theories revolving around his next career move. This includes him moving to CNN, starting a massive wildlife rescue program, and running for the presidency. He joked, “Next year, I will be president of an animal sanctuary dedicated to caring for the rare Blitzer Wolf. It’s a captive breeding program. Nobody tell him.”

He further officially introduced his next project, an hour-long procedural drama straight out of headlines. “It’s the gripping tale of two detectives who are also uncles. How can they be both? It ain’t easy, folks,” he said about the plot.
