After a lengthy time away, the Princess of Wales is ready to return abroad. Kate Middleton is heading to Italy on business, her first trip overseas in over two years.
The future Queen spent much of 2024 in the public eye after announcing her cancer diagnosis. In early January the following year, she confirmed the cancer was in remission after a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital. The wife of Prince William is eager to be away to support a cause that’s very near and dear to her heart.
Kate will spend two days in Reggio Emilia
Kate is headed to northern Italy next week. The mother of three will visit Reggio, Emilia, an area in the north of Italy tied to one of her key causes: early childhood. The visit will take place next Wednesday and Thursday. In a statement to CNN, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said that Kate is excited about the trip and to see “first-hand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates environments where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children’s development.”
This trip for the Princess will serve as a fact-finding mission. She’ll also dig into Reggio Emilia’s world-renowned approach to early childhood education. It should serve her well as she takes the next step for her Royal Foundation, the Centre for Early Childhood.
Despite her health battles over the past couple of years, it hasn’t stopped Kate from making donations and visiting places in the UK. In December, she went back to the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she was treated for her cancer. She donated a special Christmas tree and visited with staff and patients.
Kate had a similar trip to her upcoming one in 2022. She went to Denmark to learn more about their approach to children’s learning through outdoor lessons.
