Dexter Keaton took to Instagram on Mother’s Day to honor her late mom with a deeply personal message and a collection of heartfelt images. The post marked the first Mother’s Day since Diane Keaton’s death in October 2025 at age 79.
The photos captured several intimate moments from their lives together. One showed Dexter as a child spending time with her mother at the beach, while another featured the pair smiling together in a garden. A particularly emotional image showed Diane hugging and kissing her daughter during Dexter’s 2021 wedding celebration in California.
“First Mother’s Day without you,” Dexter wrote in the caption. She added that she missed her mother “more than words can say,” while reflecting on the loss of her voice, hugs, and comforting presence.
Over the years, Diane openly spoke about becoming a mother later in life. The Oscar-winning actress adopted Dexter in 1996 and later adopted her son, Duke, in 2001. Despite decades in Hollywood, she often described motherhood as the role that changed her life the most. In past interviews, Diane admitted she did not always feel certain about becoming a parent, but eventually realized adoption was “the single greatest thing” she had done.
