Ben Affleck’s Ex-Wife Reveals ‘Great Chemistry’ With Movie Co-Star

Ben Affleck‘s ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, recently offered insight into her dynamic with the co-star of her upcoming Netflix romantic comedy, Office Romance. In an interview, she touched upon her “great chemistry” with Brett Goldstein, whom she was pleasantly surprised to find out was a sweet and gentle person.

Notably, the film will start streaming on Netflix in the summer. In it, Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, the perfectionist CEO of a major company who falls in love with its new lawyer, Daniel Blanchflower, essayed by Goldstein.

Jennifer Lopez talks about chemistry with Office Romance costar

Jennifer Lopez addressed her pleasant experience working with Brett Goldstein on Office Romance. While speaking with PEOPLE at Netflix Upfront to promote the film, the Atlas star said that she and Goldstein “had great chemistry to begin with,” which she noted evolved while filming together.

Moreover, the 56-year-old revealed that the Ted Lasso actor was the complete opposite of what she anticipated before meeting him. “I expected more of a rough guy,” she shared. “But you get this kind, gentle but also very smart person that is so charming. That was a surprise, I think.”

Furthermore, she said she was a fan of his character from the Jason Sudeikis-led series, Roy Kent, labeling him her “favorite.” Ben Affleck’s ex-wife admitted, “I thought he was going to be more like the character, but he was so soft-spoken and sweet and totally different.”

Lopez isn’t the only one who believed she and Goldstein had chemistry. Ol Parker, who helmed Office Romance, told the outlet that it was obvious even before production began. “I had lunch with them way before we began,” he recalled. “And we just laughed all the way through the lunch, and I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna go great.”

Meanwhile, Goldstein, who co-wrote the movie with Joe Kelly, said they conceived the part of Jackie with Lopez in mind, acknowledging her strong presence within the rom-com genre. “We started asking ourselves who the best rom-com star is, and without hesitation, we both said JLo,” the Shrinking co-creator recalled. “It’s easy to write a rom-com when you have JLo in mind. She’s the best at this stuff. We just wanted to write something funny and smart enough to be worthy of her saying yes.” He continued.
