JD Vance recently reacted to Donald Trump’s poll that he conducted earlier this week at the Police Week event about his potential presidential successor. He joked that no one would expect the president to conduct an Apprentice-style public event to decide his presidential heir. During the earlier event, Trump asked the audience their preferences on whom they think is most capable of looking after the country: Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
JD Vance responds to Donald Trump’s potential President poll
Vice President JD Vance shared an interesting response to Donald Trump’s earlier audience poll for the next president, which he conducted during the Police Week event in the White House’s Rose Garden Club. During a press conference, Vance joked, “Well, I just don’t think it sounds like the president of the United States to have a televised competition for who would succeed him as his apprentice.”
He said that everyone might not expect the president to conduct such an event to decide the presidential heir. This remark referred to the Trump-presented reality show, wherein people from different backgrounds showcase their entrepreneurial and sales skills, hoping to land a contract to promote the president’s properties and to get a cash prize.
These comments come amid the president on Monday having conducted a spontaneous audience poll, asking them who they think could become president between Vance and Rubio. He also asked whether, apart from these two candidates, they have anyone else on their mind. One by one, he checked for the crowd’s reaction to these two names. Interestingly, Trump noticed that in the case of Vance, the response was “big,” however, for Rubio, it was “very nice.”
During the press conference, Vance also reacted to his 2028 presidential speculation, saying that there are some topics that he doesn’t wish to speak more about, like what his political future will be like down the line. He said that currently he’s more “focused” on fulfilling the responsibilities that he’s elected for than on thinking about the future.
