The numbers are in, and they are far from encouraging for Donald Trump. Many Americans aren’t pleased about the war in Iran and what that’s meant for the economy. Gas prices have spiked, while many in a recent poll are worried about how the President is handling some key financial issues.
According to the poll, only 27% of Americans approve of how the President is handling inflation. That’s his lowest approval rating since the beginning of his second term. Meanwhile, 76% of people polled are concerned about their personal finances today.
These numbers appear to be consistent with how many US citizens feel about how the POTUS has dealt with the economy lately.
President Trump’s approval rating on the economy falls
The US economy is reportedly declining, and with it, perhaps the President’s popularity. A new CBS poll suggests that a mere 37% of Americans approve of the job the POTUS has done. At the same time, the poll said that 67% of people today were stressed about their personal finances. Meanwhile, only 43% of people are content in that department right now.
Many are feeling the pinch of higher pump prices. By the sounds of it, those costs aren’t sitting well with Americans. The poll says that 59% of people believe that gas prices today have been a financial hardship/difficult. Last week, President Trump dismissed affordability concerns. He believes that costs didn’t go up too much. He contends that the increases are for a good cause to ensure Iran doesn’t have access to nuclear weapons.
The President may not believe it, but the numbers suggest his decisions may be contributing to his low approval rating. The poll adds that 65% of Americans believe, in the short term, that the POTUS is making things worse because of his policies on the economy. At the same time, 50% of Americans polled believe his economic policies are also bad for the long term.
These disapproval ratings seem in line with the poor numbers the President got last week. The President scored a 70% disapproval rating in one survey.
