Stephen Colbert shared a personal answer that got his wife blushing on live TV. His response during the Colbert Questionert quickly made the studio audience erupt in laughter. The sweet exchange happened during one of the final episodes of The Late Show, adding another memorable moment to the longtime couple’s on-screen chemistry before the series comes to an end.
Stephen Colbert’s favorite smell revelation makes his wife blush
During the second-to-last episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Stephen Colbert’s wife, Evelyn McGee Colbert, joined him for a playful segment of the Colbert Questionert. What started as a simple question quickly turned into one of the night’s funniest and sweetest moments.
Evie asked her husband, “What is your favorite smell, darling?” Colbert jokingly warned her she might not like the answer. She immediately teased back, “Ohhh, what’s her name?” That setup got even bigger laughs once Colbert revealed the answer was actually connected to her.
Colbert explained that his favorite smell happens when Evie is upstairs getting ready before they go out together. He described walking upstairs after her and recognizing the scent of her rose lotion right away. “I know that you’ve already gotten out of the shower,” he said while trying to remember the product name.
After Evie identified it as Kai*rose body lotion, Colbert added another line that instantly made her blush. “And I know that you are in there wearing very little,” he joked. Evie burst into laughter, covered her face, and turned visibly red while the audience cheered.
The couple has frequently appeared together throughout Colbert’s 11-year run as host. Fans have often enjoyed their relaxed chemistry and playful banter. Earlier this year, Evie also appeared during a holiday-themed episode where Colbert complimented her leather outfit while the two joked about her looking like a Marvel movie villain.
The emotional timing of the moment also stood out because The Late Show has concluded after more than three decades on CBS. The franchise originally launched with David Letterman before Colbert took over in 2015.
