Donald Trump has posted on Truth Social saying that he is forgoing his son’s wedding for his “love for the United States.”
The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and Palm Beach socialist Bettina Anderson will get married in an intimate affair during Memorial Day weekend. Ivanka Trump recently posted an Instagram story with her airplane floating over crystal blue waters, an indication of the wedding venue.
Donald Trump skips Don Jr.’s wedding due to his love of the United States
In a post on Truth Social, U.S. President Donald Trump said the following:
“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so. I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump had earlier expressed his noncommitment to attending his son’s wedding, saying that he had “other things” to deal with, including complications around the Iran war. However, he lashed out, saying that the “fake news media” will “kill him” no matter what he decides to do.
However, speculations have intensified around the president’s absence from his son’s wedding. For instance, citing his “love for the United States” may simply indicate a well-planned strategy to claim his 24/7 dedication to the country’s global security threats.
It can also mean that the president is looking to safeguard himself and his family from the horrible global optics of having the president celebrate lavishly while people are dying. His decision not to travel actually preserves the couple’s highly guarded privacy, sparing their guests from a massive Secret Service lockdown and the international media circus.
