At the Gracie Awards in Beverly Hills, Tina Knowles raved about Beyonce and Jay Z’s 14-year-old daughter, the eldest of all the kids, Blue Ivy Carter. Knowles was honored for her audiobook “Matriarch” on Tuesday, but the 72-year-old could not stop talking about her eldest granddaughter. She also explained that she can see a reflection of her own daughter in Blue, saying, “She’s just like her mama because she’s a huge talent.”
Tina Knowles proudly claims Blue Ivy is ‘huge talent’ just like Beyonce was as teenager
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Tina Knowles made it clear she sees the same spark in Blue Ivy that she once saw in her daughter, Beyonce, calling the teenager “very poised.”
Blue’s poise was quite apparent at the Met Gala on May 4, when she walked the red carpet alongside Beyonce and Jay-Z, wearing a white strapless Balenciaga gown with an unzipped jacket and silver Jimmy Choo stilettos. The look turned heads, but what moved Knowles the most was Blue’s dazzling presence.
Knowles told PEOPLE, “I mean, the Met Gala, I couldn’t do it,” adding, “And so I was like, look how poised she is on the red carpet and how she knows exactly what she wants. Yeah, it made me very proud.”
Notably, Beyonce attended her first red carpet at 15, the same age she and the other members of “Girl’s Tyme” started their journey toward becoming “Destiny’s Child.” Knowles had already confessed on the 3rd Hour of Today on May 5, “I got really emotional, shed a few tears,” adding, “It was kind of reminiscent. Beyoncé started her first red carpet at 15, and Blue is 14, so just seeing her out there looking confident and beautiful. It was déjà vu.”
Beyoncé, who served as a co-chair for this year’s Met Gala, also spoke about her daughter’s appearance, telling Vogue, “I think she looks so incredible.”
Blue Ivy is the eldest daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s three kids, including 8-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. Nevertheless, Tina Knowles ensured everyone knew how talented her granddaughter is, one she affectionately calls a “bossy little Capricorn.”
