Taylor Swift fans berate ESPN over Knicks game snub. For those unversed, the pop star and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, attended the Cleveland Cavaliers’ game against the New York Knicks on May 23. However, ESPN announcers kept referring to Swift as Kelce’s “fiancée”, enraging her fanbase for allegedly disrespecting the artist.
Taylor Swift fans slam ESPN announcers for not mentioning her during Knicks game
Taylor Swift fans call out ESPN announcers for not mentioning the singer by her name during the Knicks game. As per multiple videos doing the rounds on the internet, the ESPN announcers referred to Swift as Kelce’s “girlfriend” (via The Mirror US).
In a video by Brick Center, Mike Breen remarked, “Look here, Travis Kelce and his fiancée here at the game.” His co-commentator Richard Jefferson replied, “Oh, Travis Kelce. It’s good to have him here. An Ohio native, a Cleveland native. As Travis and his girlfriend are in the building, that’s always great to see. Travis Kelce and his girlfriend loving it!”
Swifties are understandably furious, alleging that this is utterly disrespectful to the biggest pop star in the world. One fan remarked, “Their fragile egos are scared of Taylor Swift LMAOOO.” A second fan noted, “That’s a loser move. They both are well known; they wouldn’t even do that to a man.” A third fan commented, “They know Taylor put Travis and the NFL on the world map, so they are trying to dim her shine LMAOO.”
A fourth fan wrote, “No it’s actually pissing me off. It should be Taylor and her fiancé.” A fifth fan shared, “Strange Behavior.”
Swifties may have gotten angry on her behalf, but based on photos and videos, the Grammy winner appeared to have a great time with Kelce.
The betrothed couple was seen whispering sweet nothings to one another and stealing a kiss during the game as well. The “Opalite” crooner modelled a black tank top, a black bomber jacket, and baggy blue jeans. Swift’s lovely bangs and trademark red lipstick, complete with a chunky silver chin accessory, were a scene-stealer.
