For better or worse Armie Hammer’s upcoming movie is getting plenty of attention. The actor has been at the centre of controversy for years for alleged sexual abuse and cannibalism, among other things.
Fans got a sneak peek of his new film, in which he plays a justice-seeker. His character is built up as a hero in a world where the justice system is failing its citizens. “Dude is chewing through the scenery,” commented one person after seeing the trailer. Online, many more fans had a lot to say about the upcoming flick.
The Citizen Vigilante movie trailer received some controversial comments
His new film doesn’t seem to be changing some people’s views about him. One person on YouTube commented that “the jokes write themselves” in this movie. That was in reference to a moment in the trailer where Armie exclaims, “Let’s get some fresh blood.” Another person jokingly wondered, “Will he (Armie) eat any of the criminals?”
Citizen Vigilante marks his return to the big screen for the first time since Frontier Crucible came out last year. Armie has faced his share of online criticisms since 2021. That’s when some alleged messages leaked with Armie reportedly telling some women about his violent sexual fantasies. One alleged message posted had him reportedly telling someone, “I am 100% a cannibal.”
Meanwhile, numerous women accused him of sexual and emotional abuse. While the Los Angeles County Court said there was insufficient evidence and would not pursue charges against him in 2023, his reputation took a hit. Shortly after allegations of cannibalism and sexual abuse came out, Armie was dropped by his talent agency. While he’s admitted to consensual BDSM, he denies any notion that he’s sexually abused women.
In February, Brandi Glanville poked fun at Armie, saying after his ex Courtney Vucekovich said he reportedly wanted to “break my rib and barbecue and eat it.” The reality alum joked that Courtney could have her rib cage instead. Citizen Vigilante is set to be released this summer.
