Returning Real Housewives of New York City star Sai De Silva recently discussed her ongoing divorce. Her estranged husband, David Craig, filed for divorce in early April after nine years of marriage.
Sai’s comments are her first detailed discussion since the divorce was announced. She is one of threeRHONY returning cast members with Erin Lichy and Jessel Taank.
The Real Housewives of New York star is “in a really good place now”
Sai spoke to Page Six Radio about the impact the breakup has taken on her emotional health. She also confirmed there is still much respect between herself and her ex.
“I’m in a really good place now,” she said. “I think at first I was a little shaken up and — and a little bit upset. I respect David so much, you know? That’s somebody I’ve been with for 17 years. He’s the father of my kids. I never want this to be seen in a way like, ‘I can’t stand him, and we’re so angry with each other.’”
The couple share two children, daughter London, 14, and son Rio, 8. David rarely appeared on RHONY, and he didn’t appear on Sai’s social media.
Although she didn’t specify the reason for the dissolution of her marriage, she said her dynamic with David changed over the years. Sai intimated this, saying that if “you don’t grow together, you grow apart, and it’s really hard to glue it back once you’ve grown apart.”
Sai said, for the sake of her family, she seeks to maturely handle the situation with care. She is looking ahead during this difficult chapter. “My heart is with my children, and my focus is on giving them as much stability and love as possible,” Sai shared in a statement following the divorce filing and announcement.
Bravo has not yet announced the premiere of RHONY Season 16.
