Sydney Sweeney Debunks Rumors About Euphoria Season 3’s Long Delay

Sydney Sweeney says cast schedules were not responsible for the long wait for Euphoria Season 3. The actress pushed back against rumors and said the delays had nothing to do with actors. After years of speculation, Sweeney has finally addressed the issue that surrounded HBO’s hit drama. She explained what was happening behind the scenes and why fans ended up waiting four years for the show’s final season.

Sydney Sweeney denies rumors that cast schedules caused the Euphoria Season 3 delay

Rumors about cast drama and scheduling headaches surrounded Euphoria during its long hiatus, but Sydney Sweeney says fans had the wrong idea. Speaking on Vanity Fair’s Little Gold Men podcast, the actress explained that the cast was locked into the show and ready to roll whenever HBO gave the green light.

“I was in first position to HBO,” Sweeney said, meaning she legally couldn’t take on anything else if filming was called. According to her, the same applied to the rest of the cast, so their schedules weren’t the reason behind the delay. In other words, all those behind-the-scenes rumors were way off base.

Sweeney admitted it was quite strange watching fans and headlines cook up stories about cast feuds. Since the actors basically grew up together while making Euphoria, she feels social media often exaggerated situations. Looking back, she joked that it was amusing to see “everybody spin narratives on it.”

Sweeney also revealed that Sam Levinson gave her a rough idea of Cassie’s future not long after Season 2 ended. Years before cameras rolled again, she already knew Cassie would end up marrying Nate, moving to the suburbs, and becoming “crazier than ever.” The full picture, though, only came together once the scripts finally landed in her hands.

The Anyone But You star also admitted that Cassie pushed her as an actress more than most roles. She said the character constantly challenged her and gave her the chance to explore emotions other parts might never touch. That’s why, even though moving on is tough, she says it’s especially hard because Cassie has been “fun to play.”
