Knicks radio host takes a dig at Taylor Swift’s loyalty to the team at Game 4
Taylor Swift became part of the conversation during Wednesday night’s NBA Finals matchup after comments from Knicks radio analyst Monica McNutt were caught on a live microphone. The singer attended Game 4 at Madison Square Garden wearing a “Stevie Knicks” T-shirt while cheering on New York.
As broadcaster Tyler Murray attempted to snap a picture for his wife, McNutt questioned whether Swift was really a supporter of the team. “She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl,” McNutt said, apparently unaware that the conversation was being recorded.
The moment quickly made its way to social media after clips were shared by Barstool Sports and NY Post Sports. Many fans took issue with the remarks and argued that Swift’s connection to the franchise has been documented for years.
The backlash picked up quickly on X (formerly Twitter), with plenty of users rushing to Taylor Swift’s defense. One person pointed out that Swift performed the national anthem at a Knicks game when she was just 12, has attended games over the years, and has called New York home for more than a decade. Another user blasted the comments as “racist and hateful,” while others weren’t buying the exchange at all, with one writing, ” McNutt has no clue what she’s speaking“
Swift has maintained ties to New York for much of her adult life and has previously been spotted at Knicks games. Her appearance at Madison Square Garden came during a tightly contested Game 4 between New York and San Antonio.
The Knicks ultimately escaped with a 107-106 victory over the Spurs, giving the home crowd plenty to celebrate beyond the celebrity sightings. However, it was the hot-mic moment involving McNutt that became one of the night’s biggest talking points online.
