Taylor Swift made a solo appearance at Knicks Game 4 while Travis Kelce stayed away. The NFL star’s absence had little to do with basketball and everything to do with work. Swift spent the evening with friends at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks continued their NBA Finals run. The reason Kelce missed the game has now been revealed.
Travis Kelce reportedly didn’t join Taylor Swift for Knicks game due to his schedule
Taylor Swift headed to New York City for Game 4 of the NBA Finals, but Travis Kelce was notably absent. According to reports, the Kansas City Chiefs star had a prior commitment with his team and could not travel (via Elle).
Swift attended the matchup at Madison Square Garden with Este and Alana Haim. The trio embraced the occasion with playful Knicks-themed outfits while cheering on New York. Kelce, meanwhile, was occupied with the Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp, which ran from June 9 through June 11. The team also shared photos of him interacting with Make-A-Wish children during the event.
Kelce and Swift are no strangers to courtside date nights. Just last month, the pair were spotted watching the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Knicks. Later, on his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce, the Chiefs star said the outing was simply about having a good time and sharing something he grew up loving. “This was me just having a fun date night,” Kelce explained, adding that he enjoys basketball and loves introducing Swift to the sports culture that’s always been a big part of his life.
The three-time Super Bowl champ also shared that he wasn’t trying to turn Taylor Swift into a diehard Cleveland fan. Still, he loved showing her a piece of his hometown roots. Even though the Cavaliers ended up taking the loss, Kelce said the energy inside the arena was absolutely electric. “Man, it was just so fun to be in the building and feel the electricity,” Kelce said.
