Jesse Ridgway is speaking out after finding himself at the center of one of the internet’s most heated debates. The longtime YouTuber, known to millions as McJuggerNuggets, says he and his wife, Ashley Ridgway, have faced intense criticism.
It began after they revealed they had terminated a pregnancy after learning their unborn child had Down syndrome. Now, their revelation is drawing reactions from supporters, critics, and fellow parents alike.

In a recent social media update, Jesse made it clear that the backlash hasn’t changed his willingness to discuss the decision publicly. The content creator said many critics have told him and Ashley they are destined for hell, but those comments carry little weight for him because he does not consider himself religious.
“A lot of the pro-life people are wishing death upon me and my wife,” Jesse said, calling the response hypocritical.
While noting that he respects religious beliefs, Jesse argued that faith becomes problematic when it is used as a weapon against others. The controversy erupted after the couple disclosed that they chose to terminate a pregnancy following testing that showed a high likelihood of Trisomy 21, commonly known as Down syndrome.
The announcement sparked strong reactions online. Some parents raising children with Down syndrome shared stories and photos celebrating their families, while others condemned the couple’s decision. Public figures and political commentators also weighed in, helping push the story far beyond YouTube circles.
Speaking about the fallout, Jesse admitted he and Ashley have been overwhelmed by both grief and public scrutiny. “We were so excited to be first-time parents,” he said, explaining that the difficult diagnosis changed the course of their plans.
Despite receiving death threats and harsh criticism, Jesse said he intends to keep discussing the topic because he believes other couples face similar decisions every day, often in private.
The influencer also acknowledged that the subject remains highly sensitive but said he has been surprised by the intensity of some responses. For now, Jesse says he has no plans to step away from social media. Instead, he hopes sharing his experience will help others navigating similarly difficult situations feel less alone.
