Project Runway is adding some star power to its roster next season. The show recently released the trailer for Season 22, featuring Tyra Banks in one of the clips.
It has been a difficult time for the America’s Next Top Model creator, as she is in the middle of an alleged character assassination case. She filed a defamation lawsuit against Netflix, EverWonder Studio, plus Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan, the co-directors of the documentary Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.
Tyra Banks joins Project Runway Season 22 as a recurring judge
Evidently, Project Runway were impressed with everything Tyra brought to the table last season. She had previously served as a guest judge on Season 21. People reports that Tyra be a recurring judge for this upcoming season.
In the new trailer, there is a clip of her with judges Heidi Klum, Law Roach, Nina Garcia, and Season 4 winner Christian Siriano. Christian will continue his role as a mentor this season.
The announcement comes as Tyra seeks a jury trial in her defamation case to determine how much money she might receive in damages. Tyra claims the edit of the documentary supported a false narrative. According to her, only about 16 minutes of her lengthy interview was used in the docuseries.
Tyra will not be the only familiar face reality TV fans will know in the upcoming season of Project Runway. Plane Jane from Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will be showing off her design chops. She also previously appeared on House of Villains. She will be one of 22 competitors, the largest number in the show’s history.
We’ll see plenty of reality TV stars from various shows on the next season of Project Runway. Charity Lawson of The Bachelorette, plus Love Thy Nader star Sarah Jane Nader will make appearances. Many members of the Dancing with the Stars cast will hit the catwalk. Last season’s winner Veejay Floresca is also returning as a model.
The new season of Project Runway premieres on Freeform July 9 and you can stream episodes the next day on Disney+.
