White House sends RFK Jr. to battleground districts
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been making several appearances in crucial battleground House districts over the recent weeks. On Tuesday, he visited Charlotte, Michigan, where he discussed his MAHA agenda with GOP Rep. Tom Barrett. Before that, he visited an elder care program in Thornton, Colorado. Kennedy also delivered a speech at a dairy farm in western Wisconsin, a couple of weeks ago.
Kennedy’s tour of the battleground districts indicates that the White House holds the Health and Human Services Secretary as a key ally in their efforts to help Republicans maintain their governing majority ahead of the November midterm elections.
In a statement to The Hill, White House spokesperson Kush Desai said, “When President Trump pledged to Make America Healthy Again, he launched a nationwide movement and call to action for parents, educators, researchers, food companies, and local lawmakers.”
He added, “Secretary Kennedy has already delivered major progress on the MAHA agenda, from cracking down on artificial ingredients to overhauling the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and he will continue to tout these historic victories by HHS and the Trump administration for the American people.”
David Murphy, a former finance director for RFK Jr.’s presidential campaign, has also given his thoughts on the HHS Secretary’s tour of the battleground districts. “Bobby’s good on the campaign trail,” he said. Murphy added, “He connects sincerely with his audience most of the time, and I think that some people in the White House who were against some of his policy agenda recognize that he’s a better surrogate in some of these districts than some of their other people that the White House could deploy.”
