Reportedly, the family had received a ransom note in February, claiming that the anchor’s mother was “dead.” During the latest episode of the morning show, Savannah “begged” viewers, trembling with tears. She seemed to believe that “someone knows something,” and requested them to come forward and help her.
Savannah Guthrie in tears as she addresses new Nancy Guthrie update
Savannah Guthrie addressed an update on a ransom note in the Nancy Guthrie case. It was reported that the family had received a ransom note in the same month the journalist’s mother went missing. It mentioned that Nancy was “dead,” which led to Savannah and her siblings releasing an emotional video on social media.
On Tuesday, the co-anchor broke down on the “Today” show while making a heartbreaking plea. After the team covered her mother’s story update, Savannah told her fellow anchors that she wasn’t involved in the coverage. However, she couldn’t pretend she wasn’t on the set. “So, since I am, I just want to take the opportunity to ask people to really to beg people to come forward – somebody knows something,” Savannah said.
As tears crept in, the broadcaster reminded viewers that the case update might be just a “new story” for them. “But this is the life that my sister lives, I live, my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day,” she added. Her voice trembled as she said that they had been “in agony.”
Moreover, Savannah mentioned that the entire family cannot find peace until they find their mother. “This is the moment to tell you that we need your help. We’re begging for your help. I’m not going to miss that opportunity,” she pleaded. Furthermore, Nancy’s daughter suggested that viewers could reach out anonymously.
