The anchor stepped out of her role and personally appealed to viewers for any information regarding the 84-year-old. Recently, a ransom note was sent to her family claiming that her mother was dead. She revealed how devastating it was to watch the security footage when she broke down on air.

People working behind the scenes stated, “It was a sad day” after her emotional plea. A lot of people at “Today” are sad. According to reports, “There was a sense of sadness today. Everybody just feels so bad for her. There is a lot of uncertainty.”

“There is a lot of admiration and praise for her because she is still able to do her job. People really support her and care about her, and are heartbroken,” the source added.

Savannah said “no comment” about the new developments in her mother’s case, noting she is not involved in covering the case. However, it’s hard for her not to be present when it’s being discussed.

“We cannot be at peace,” Savannah said on the show. “No matter how much I try to come out here every day and smile and find that joy — and I will, I promise I will — this is a moment to say we need your help. … I’m not gonna miss that opportunity.”

While the investigations remain ongoing, Savannah continues to urge viewers to come forward with any information.
