Courteney Cox & Johnny McDaid’s Reported Breakup Comes After a Decade of Dating

Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid have reportedly ended their long-running romance after more than a decade together. The reported split comes after years of weathering long distance, a broken engagement, and an eventual reconciliation that many fans thought would last.

The pair largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight despite dating since 2013. Now, multiple outlets report they’ve quietly gone their separate ways after spending more than 10 years together.

Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid reportedly had a breakup after dating for 10 years

According to PEOPLE, the Friends star and the Snow Patrol musician have ended their relationship after more than a decade together. The outlet confirmed an earlier report by the Daily Mail, noting that the couple, who first met at a party hosted by Courteney in 2013, have called it quits. Representatives for both have not publicly commented.

The reported Courteney Cox breakup has surprised fans because the couple had already overcome one major hurdle. After getting engaged just nine months into dating, they ended their engagement in 2015 before reconciling the following year. Although they never became engaged again, they remained together while maintaining homes in both Los Angeles and the UK.

Courteney previously reflected on that earlier separation during the “Minnie Questions with Minnie Driver” podcast. “Three years in, we broke up, and it was really intense. We broke up in therapy,” she said, according to PEOPLE. She added, “He just broke up within the first minute. And I was like, what? We were engaged, and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain.”

Despite the heartbreak, the actress later credited that experience with strengthening their relationship. “It really taught me how I operated in the world,” she said, according to PEOPLE, explaining that therapy helped her establish healthier boundaries and better understand herself.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reported that the latest split was amicable. A source told the outlet, “Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much.” The insider added that they had simply reached a point where they were living “different lives.”

The outlet also reported that McDaid is allegedly in the early stages of a new relationship, though neither he nor Cox has publicly addressed those claims.
