Prince Harry’s UK Travel Plan for His Kids Might Be Different — Report

Prince Harry reportedly has different plans for his kids’ UK trip compared to the family’s itinerary. The potential divergence reflects the Sussexes’ longstanding emphasis on their children’s safety. This will be Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s first trip to Britain since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. This will also be Meghan Markle’s first since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral that September.

Prince Harry reportedly has devised a different travel plan for kids for UK trip

Prince Harry has reportedly drawn up separate travel plans for his children’s UK visit, with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet potentially making the trip even if it’s only a brief stay. According to The Telegraph, the 41-year-old may bring Meghan Markle and their two children to Britain for just one day. As observed by sources, the short visit would let them see King Charles while sidestepping official security arrangements. The outlet noted that there is “hope” for a meeting with the King, with Harry reportedly receiving assurances from Buckingham Palace.

A source said that the Duke of Sussex simply wants his children to meet their grandfather. However, he’s reevaluating the safety aspect of the visit. Harry and Markle had previously said they planned to bring their children to the UK in July. But Harry’s request for taxpayer-funded police protection was denied, giving rise to questions about what security his family would have in Britain. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex lost UK police protection when they stepped back as working royals in 2020.

King Charles has made accommodations on a royal estate available to the family, but Harry’s spokesperson told PEOPLE in a statement, “Prince Harry’s program in the United Kingdom includes both public and private engagements across the country. Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place.”

“The issue has never been accommodation. The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit,” they explained. The spokesperson further noted that the Risk Management Board (RMB) has not reviewed police protection for the trip.
