In a Truth Social post from June 29, Donald Trump claimed that his Great American State Fair at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., had been “packed” with visitors. The president also took a jab at his predecessors, Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
“Do you think people appreciate what a fantastic job we did in building and operating the Great American State Fair at the National Mall, packed with happy people, and everybody loving it?” Trump wrote in the post. The POTUS added, “Ask yourself this simple question, ‘DO YOU THINK THAT OBUMA OR SLEEPY JOE BIDEN COULD HAVE DONE IT?’ THE ANSWER IS NO!”
Despite Trump stating that the Great American State Fair had numerous visitors, there have been multiple reports contradicting the claim. A live broadcast on Fox News shortly after the opening showed that very few people turned up for the event.
Multiple photos and videos emerging from the Great American State Fair confirm that only a handful of people attended the event. Needless to say, netizens have called out Trump over his claim that the State Fair was “packed” with people. One user commented, “The Great American State Fair is a ghost town. The whole celebration of America’s 250th is a colossal failure by any objective standard.” Another netizen said that Trump is “totally delusional.”
Last week, Fox 5 DC reporter Homa Bash shared that the Great American State Fair experienced a power outage. She posted a short clip from the event on X (formerly Twitter), reporting, “Food hall at Great American State Fair has lost power – they have food but tell me all their ice cream has melted”
The State Fair is part of Trump’s Freedom 250 celebrations. The event began on June 25 and will wrap up on July 10.
