Jodie Sweetin opened up about the current status of her relationship with Full House co-stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The 44-year-old actress shared that she still maintains friendships with her former co-stars, despite the Olsen twins opting out of the spinoff Fuller House in 2016.
Jodie Sweetin says she and the Olsen twins remain on good terms despite living very different lives
During her June 30 appearance on Taboo’s Comics and Kicks podcast, Sweetin said, as quoted by Page Six, “Everyone’s on good terms with them, but they were 8 years old when this show stopped. Then they did all of those movies and all that stuff that I don’t know that they really loved doing all the time.”
Sweetin, who played middle daughter Stephanie Tanner on the hit ABC sitcom, explained, “I think, for them, they walked away from all of us at 8 years old,” pointing out that she grew up on the set, filming the series during her formative years between the ages of 5 and 13.
Reflecting on the twins’ experience, Sweetin said, “Eight and earlier, you don’t remember all that much. They have a different relationship to being on set all the time. They might not remember being 2 years old and having, you know, us all carrying them around and doing this stuff, but I do. That’s not their thing.”
The actress said the Olsen sisters are now focused on the fashion industry and prefer to keep a low profile, adding, “They had so much, and they were so invaded and so for public consumption, I totally understand why they don’t want to do that.”
While Full House aired for eight seasons between 1987 and 1995, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen chose not to reprise their single role as the youngest daughter, Michelle Tanner, in its Netflix sequel, Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020. According to Wonderwall, the twins ended their shared acting careers after the 2004 film New York Minute, co-starring Eugene Levy.
