Olivia Nuzzi has reportedly found love with Vice Media co-founder Shane Smith. The 33-year-old former New York magazine reporter, whose career came under scrutiny following allegations of a digital affair with RFK Jr., was recently spotted with Vice Media co-founder as he works to revive his media company.
Olivia Nuzzi is reportedly dating Vice Media co-founder Shane Smith
The Status newsletter reported that Nuzzi met Smith at a private West Hollywood event, hosted by MAHA blogger Jessica Reed Kraus, better known as HouseInHabit, in April. The group later headed to Chateau Marmont, where Nuzzi was seen spending time with Smith. However, Page Six has now reported that their relationship may extend beyond discussions of editorial roles. According to an insider, their relationship “began immediately” after they met in April.
The dating rumors emerged two years after Nuzzi stepped away from the public spotlight following a sexting and messaging scandal linked to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 presidential campaign, reports Yahoo Entertainment. Kennedy’s spokeswoman denied claims of a romantic relationship, stating that the politician had met Nuzzi only once during an interview. However, Nuzzi later acknowledged that her communications with a former reporting subject had become personal and admitted she should have disclosed them, the New York Post states.
New York magazine’s editor later told staff that Nuzzi said the relationship began after her November 2023 profile of Kennedy and ended in August 2024. According to Politico, she was let go from the outlet in October 2024, where she worked as a Washington correspondent. Nuzzi was then appointed West Coast editor at Vanity Fair in September 2025, before the magazine confirmed in December that it was parting ways with her.
In her memoir American Canto, released on December 2, 2025, Nuzzi shared extensive details about her relationship with “the politician,” who is not named in the book. She wrote, “I did something wrong. Those ethics rules exist for a reason. They’re really good rules. And I had violated that.”
